Many of you, for awhile now (sorry if I’ve been a little too excited!) have been hearing about a chicken wire cabinet in my kitchen. I was telling my own father about it one day when we were walking my parents through the house to show them the changes we were making, and he just shook his head, smiled, and joked that I had been taking way too much design school.
Today, I get to show it off to you! We still have some major things to take care of in the kitchen (some ugly lights and the backsplash), so I’m not giving the “full reveal” yet. I couldn’t wait to show you this though. And yes, I spent an hour or two arranging my dishes in it. I am building my collection of simple white plates, cups, and dishes. I’ve completely eliminated any design on them (in other words, my father-in-law just inherited my plates with flowers on them).
Now that I look at the pictures, I might need to still do some more arranging. The second row down looks a little “heavy” with dishes compared to the others.
What?
You think I’ve been thinking about design stuff way too much as well? Maybe so………
The wood on this cabinet is quarter sawn white oak, slightly distressed with a very dark stain. I put on nickel hardware to make it feel cohesive with my stainless appliances. The rest of my hardware is oil rubbed bronze, which goes with my faucet and light fixtures.
Oh, and if you know of any place to get a great looking white water pitcher (something that looks old-fashioned), would you let me know? I’m on the hunt for one!
Have a great weekend…..you’ll get to see more great cabinets next week!
