Hey everybody!
Sorry I went MIA last week. I jetted off to Dallas to hone my interior design skills, and I had the privilege to be tutored by the fabulous Tobi Fairley.
I was so busy writing notes and scheming up ideas for my business that I didn’t get a lot of pictures taken. Here are a few of the highlights I did catch on camera.
Of course, the best part about these events is rubbing shoulders with some of the best designers in the country. I learn so much from all of them, and Tobi gives her best every time. If you are a designer and are thinking of attending one of her events, you really need to go for it. It will be the best thing you’ve ever done.
Do you know what else I learned? My hair doesn’t like humidity. It won’t stay straight or curl. My hats off to all of you that can keep your hair in line! I was battling mine the whole time.
We delved into personality types and leadership styles for part of this event. I am an INTJ, according to Meyers-Briggs. I’ve always known I am an introvert. I’ve become comfortable with that part of me after many years of wishing I was more extroverted. What was interesting to me is the fact that I have dual strengths of creativity and dependability (I guess I’ve always known that too, but it was fun to see it “pulled out”, if you will). I love systems and organization. I also quickly lose respect for authority if I can see a better way of doing things.
I guess it’s good I own my own company, yes?
Famous people with INTJ personality traits are Steve Jobs, Hillary Clinton, and C.S. Lewis.
One evening Curry and Company hosted a cocktail party in their beautiful showroom. I did snap a few pictures there.
I loved this fabric. It is very rustic and romantic, don’t you think?
Gorgeous lamps……
The food was amazing as well, but I didn’t snap any pictures of it this time around.
Thank you, Tobi and staff, for letting me attend such an amazing event. My business will be better for it, and I can’t wait to share my progress in the coming years.
Happy Monday everyone!
