Remodel Progress: The Doorknob Decision

You may have noticed that something has been missing in every picture I’ve showed of our remodel.  If you can’t guess, here’s a clue.

Yes, ever since we’ve moved in, we’ve lived without doorknobs.  They are pricey and not totally needed.  A voice the pitch of a siren can avert an unwanted guest when in the bathroom, right?

I might have also been very indecisive on which doorknobs to get.

The indecision can finally end (and hopefully bathroom invaders)!  I’ve picked out a doorknob and I’m very excited about it.

We have a mixture of bronze finishes in our home.  It goes well with our “farmhouse” theme.

I wanted to keep the doorknobs in bronze as well, and considered an ornate, old-fashioned doorknob for awhile….one with a very large backplate.  It never felt quite right.  I wanted something more fun.  I finally decided on an egg shaped, crystal knob with a smaller backplate from Emtek.  Emtek lets you mix and match doorknobs and backplates on their website, so I was even able to put one together for you!

I’m very excited about them!  Emtek doorknobs are more pricey than a lot of others, but remember Traci Zeller’s advice?  Buy quality and you only cry once!  Doorknobs aren’t ever really cheap, and so replacing the cheaper (not that cheap) ones over and over again costs you more anyway.

So, now it’s your turn.  What doorknobs are your favorite, and why?  Do you have any in your home that you absolutely love?

Have a great weekend!

  1. I must admit that I do love a mix of old and new.
Doorknobs can add up but they are like buttons on a jacket, practical and pretty.
