Today while other interior designers are starting their day with makeup and tailored clothing, I will be driving a pickup truck down a dusty road. I will throw on some worn leather gloves instead of perfume and a dress. It satisfies a part of me I can’t explain.
I’ll look at my social media feed, filled with amazing homes in exotic locations. Yet it won’t be lost on me that I have sat in places most people only dream about.
I will take calls from vendors in North Carolina to serve clients in big cities. We’ll talk of dreamy window treatments, as sun filters through my own uncovered office windows. It will slowly sweep over my unfinished canvases, all waiting patiently for me to continue making my art.
I’ll watch friends, each with opposing political views, debate their point of view. I can’t help but think if they met, they would like each other.
I’ll fluff the custom pillow in my bedroom, and my toy Yorkie will lay on it. Somewhere else, a person will sleep on a hard sidewalk.
I will share the road today with ranchers and tourists. Some drivers will be rushing while others enjoy the ride.
Yesterday the news declared that skipping breakfast may, after all, help you lose weight.
I will dream the loftiest dreams while I tackle the mundane.
Sometimes the battle of opposites makes me crazy. Today, I appreciate that it keeps my life interesting.

I love this post. It’s almost poetic.
